Acceptable use policy
Effective October 16, 2026
QR codes are trusted: people scan them on menus, posters and packaging without seeing where they lead. This policy keeps that trust. It applies to every dynamic code and to anything else you create with QRfinity.
You may not use QRfinity to
- Phish: collect passwords, bank or card details, or other personal information by pretending to be someone else.
- Spread malware: link to viruses, spyware, ransomware or software that installs itself or misleads people about what it does.
- Scam or defraud: fake shops, fake invoices or parking fines, investment or cryptocurrency fraud, fake prizes.
- Share illegal content, or anything that sexually exploits children. We report child sexual abuse material to the authorities.
- Harass, threaten or dox anyone, or share intimate images without consent.
- Promote violent extremism or terrorism.
- Sell or arrange illegal goods or services.
- Impersonate a person, business or government in a misleading way, including with a contact card that isn't yours to share.
- Publish other people's personal details on a contact card without their permission.
- Infringe someone else's copyright or trademark.
- Hide the destination: point a code to another URL shortener or redirect chain so people can't tell where it goes.
- Spam: send unsolicited bulk messages, or generate codes in bulk to get around our limits.
- Attack or overload QRfinity, probe it for weaknesses without permission, or scrape it.
How we enforce this
- Automatic checks. Every new or changed destination, including a contact card's website and every redirect rule's link, is checked against Google Web Risk and our own blocklist, and against other URL shorteners. We re-check live destinations on a regular schedule.
- Reports. Anyone can report a QR code. We review every report.
- What happens. If a code breaks this policy, we turn it off. People who scan it see a warning page instead of the destination. If Google Web Risk lists a destination as malware or phishing, we turn the code off straight away and review it afterwards. We email the owner with the reason.
- Accounts. For serious or repeated abuse we may suspend the account.
- The law. We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement and may preserve information about abuse.
If you think we got it wrong
Email abuse@qrfinity.com with the short link. A person will review it, and if we made a mistake we'll turn the code back on.
