ITF-14 is the barcode on shipping cartons and cases: it encodes a 14-digit GTIN in bars wide enough to print well on corrugated board, with bearer bars around it. Enter your GTIN above; we add or check the check digit and test the scan before you download.
How to make an ITF-14 barcode
- Enter the 14-digit GTIN for the carton, or 13 digits and we add the check digit.
- Keep the default size for corrugated boxes (about 152 mm wide), or scale it down for printed cases on smooth board.
- Download a PNG, or vector files for your packaging printer (paid plan).
Building a carton GTIN from your product number
If each carton holds several units of one product, its GTIN-14 is usually:
| Part | Digits | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Packaging indicator (which pack size) | 1 | 1 |
| Product number without its check digit | 12 | 540014128876 (from 5400141288766) |
| New check digit | 1 | 3 (we calculate it) |
So a carton of product 5400141288766 might be 15400141288763. Use a different indicator digit for each pack size, and check GS1’s rules for your situation.
Print ITF-14 on two adjacent sides of the carton if you can, so it can be scanned whichever way the box faces on the conveyor.
