QRfinity vs QR Code Generator PRO

A fair comparison, with sources. Including when QR Code Generator PRO is the better choice.

Last updated

Both tools make free static codes that keep working forever. The difference is dynamic codes: QR Code Generator PRO’s are deactivated when the 14-day trial ends unless you pay, while ours are free with an account and never stop working.

What happens when the trial ends?

The trial lasts 14 days, needs no credit card and gives you every feature. You don’t have to cancel it, and nothing is charged if you let it lapse.

What changes is your dynamic codes. Their support article says that when the trial ends, dynamic codes are deactivated and anyone who scans one lands on a service page. Static codes keep working. Your account data is kept, but you can’t see it until you upgrade. Another help page puts it simply: a paid subscription is needed to generate and track dynamic codes, and codes are paused if the plan is no longer active.

To their credit, the way back is clear. Upgrading the same account reactivates the codes “regardless of how long your subscription has been expired”. A new account, or a new code with the same content, does not.

Cancelling a paid plan works in a similar way. Codes keep redirecting until the end of the paid period plus 30 days, during which you can’t edit them. After that the account is locked and dynamic codes go to a service page. An older guide on their site says codes stay active for three years after cancellation, so their pages differ; the support article is the more specific of the two.

With QRfinity there is no trial to end. Dynamic codes are free and unlimited with an account, and we never pause or meter them for not paying.

Where QR Code Generator PRO is better

  • An established company. Bitly bought Egoditor, the company behind the product, in December 2021, and the announcement cited more than 10 million users in more than 190 countries. QRfinity launched in 2026 and is run by a small team in Canada.
  • Bulk creation and an API. The Advanced plan includes 100 bulk creations and 3,000 API requests; Professional includes 500 bulk creations, 10,000 API requests and 5 users. We have no bulk creation, API or team seats today.
  • CSV export of statistics on the Professional plan.
  • A nonprofit discount: the Advanced plan at the Starter price.

If you need bulk creation, an API or several users on one account today, QR Code Generator PRO is the better choice. Our paid plans don’t include bulk creation, an API or team seats.

Where QRfinity is better

  • Dynamic codes that don’t depend on a subscription. Make as many as you like, edit the destination any time, and they keep working whether or not you ever pay us.
  • No scan cap. We don’t limit scans per month or per code.
  • No watermark, no account for static codes. PNG and JPG are free; print-ready SVG, PDF and EPS come with any paid plan.
  • Full design without an account. Patterns, corner styles, colours and gradients, a logo and a frame with text, with a live scan check as you design.
  • Free analytics. Total and unique scans, devices and countries, with up to 2 years of history. We don’t store raw IP addresses.

How to switch

  1. Leave your static codes alone. Static codes from QR Code Generator PRO keep working after any trial or plan ends, so there’s no need to replace them.
  2. Plan for your dynamic codes. They can’t move to another provider, because the short link inside each code belongs to QR Code Generator PRO. Keep your plan active until you’ve replaced the printed codes, or swap them for QRfinity codes over time as you reprint.
  3. Use the 30-day window if you cancel. Codes keep redirecting for 30 days after the paid period ends, which gives you a little time to finish replacing them.
  4. Make new codes with QRfinity. Create a free account, make a dynamic code with the same destination, test it with your phone, and print it on your next run.

Questions people ask

Is QR Code Generator PRO really free?

Its static codes are: you can make a basic one on the homepage without an account. Dynamic codes, scan statistics and some design options need a 14-day trial or a paid plan.

Do QR Code Generator PRO codes expire?

Static codes don’t. Dynamic codes are deactivated when the trial ends, and after you cancel a paid plan they stop redirecting once the paid period and a 30-day grace period are over. Upgrading the same account brings them back.

Can I move my QR Code Generator PRO dynamic codes to QRfinity?

Not the printed codes themselves. A dynamic code points to a short link on the provider’s own domain, so only that provider can redirect it. Keep your plan active while you replace printed codes with QRfinity codes, then let it lapse.

Is QRfinity a good QR Code Generator PRO alternative?

If you want dynamic codes that keep working without a subscription, yes: ours are free, unlimited and never paused. If you need bulk creation, an API or several team seats today, QR Code Generator PRO offers those on its higher plans and we don’t.
