A custom short link replaces the random characters in a dynamic QR code’s link with words you choose, like qrfinity.link/joes-menu. Print it under the code and people can read it, remember it and type it when they can’t scan. On QRfinity it’s free on one dynamic code, and the code never expires.

Why use a custom short link?

Every dynamic code holds a short link. Normally it ends in a few random characters, which is fine for a phone camera and useless for a person. A readable link helps when:

  • Someone can’t scan. A cracked camera, a glare-covered window or a code printed too small. A link they can type is the backup.
  • People hear it rather than see it. On the radio, in a podcast or from the stage, “qrfinity.link/joes-menu” is easy to say.
  • Trust matters. People are rightly wary of scanning unknown codes. A link that says what it is, printed under the code, shows where they’re going before they scan.
  • You want it to look finished. On a business card or shop window, a branded word reads better than a random string.

How do I get one?

  1. In the generator on this page, choose a dynamic code and enter your destination.
  2. Save it to your free account. On the last step, type your short link in Custom short link.
  3. Create the code. The link is checked to make sure it’s free and safe, then it’s yours.

It can’t be changed after you create the code, because printed copies depend on it. Where it sends people can change at any time.

Write the short link under the printed code, in plain text, in a size people can read from where they’ll scan. That one line does most of the work.

Good short links

  • Short and specific: joes-menu, spring-sale, book-a-table.
  • No dates you’ll regret: menu will outlive menu-2026, since the destination can change.
  • Easy to say: avoid hyphens in odd places and look-alike characters such as l1 or 0o.

What does it cost?

Custom short links are an advanced feature, alongside redirect rules, password protection, split traffic and date and scan limits. Every free account can use advanced features on 1 code, and a code counts once however many it uses. Plans cover 10 codes for $5 a month, 100 for $20 or every code for $50, with your first plan free for 30 days.

If a plan ends, your custom short links keep working. Nothing you printed breaks. See pricing.

Questions people ask

Can I change the short link after I create the code?

No. The short link is what the printed code holds, so changing it would break every copy you’ve printed. Choose it carefully. What you can change at any time is where it sends people.

What can the short link say?

4 to 40 lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens, such as joes-menu or spring-sale-2027. To protect people from look-alike scams, links can’t include the names of banks, payment services or big brands.

What happens to my short link if I delete the code?

It stays reserved and is never given to anyone else, so an old printed code can never start sending people somewhere you didn’t choose.

Does a custom short link make the QR code harder to scan?

Slightly longer links add a little detail to the pattern, but a qrfinity.link short link is short enough that the code stays easy to scan at normal sizes. Our generator runs a scan check before you download.

Can I use my own domain instead of qrfinity.link?

Not today. Every QRfinity short link uses qrfinity.link, which we keep separate from our main site so it stays fast and focused on redirects.
